Lebanon reviews security after last week's violence, The Lebanese government said Monday lawmakers met to address heightened security needs following violence last week that killed dozens of people.
The lawmakers said they wanted to see increased activity by "local guards" and various preventive measures taken.
"[They discussed] a political decision related to placing cameras across different streets and in gathering places to detect any sabotage move," the official National News Agency said.
U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned "cowardly" explosions in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli outside Sunny mosques Friday that left at least 42 people dead and more than 400 injured.
The secretary-general said he was "greatly concerned" over rockets fired from southern Lebanon and the retaliatory action taken by the Israeli military last week.
Violence in Lebanon has increased since Hezbollah admitted to fighting alongside pro-government forces in the Syrian civil war this year.
Lebanon broke free of Syrian dominance with a revolution in 2005 but the Syrian war has threatened to spill over the borders to engulf its neighbor.<b></b>
