Dancing With the Stars producers said the TV personality was receiving medical attention after he was hurt during his most recent performance. No other details were provided.
A tweet from Nye's Twitter account read: "Working with a partially torn ligament. Plan to be dancin' next week. Stand by (or rather, elevate your leg by...)"
A photo posted on Instagram shows him with a bandaged left knee.
Nye, and his professional dance partner, Tyne Stecklein, performed a "paso doble" routine on Monday's episode that received 17 out of 30 possible points from the judges.
Injuries have been fairly common during the show's 17 seasons. Olympian Misty May-Treanor had to withdraw from the show after tearing her Achilles tendon during rehearsals and actress Melissa Gilbert gave herself whiplash and a mild concussion during a high-energy "paso doble" last year.
