Tampa Bay Buccaneers waiting for quarterback injury to trade Josh Freeman |
The lack of interest made sense given Freeman, who was recently benched, is nothing more than a stop-gap quarterback and isn’t really much more productive than what either of those teams have on the roster.
Now, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bucs, fully aware of the limited trade market are waiting around for a team who will become desperate for a quarterback due to an injury:
Talked to 2 GMs about a possible Josh Freeman trade: Neither see a fit at this point. Best case for Freeman is to wait for a QB injury.
Only problem for Tampa Bay is most backup quarterbacks around the league are at a similar talent level, so it would take a near perfect situation for a team to be in need of Freeman.
We’ll see how long they can wait with a disgruntled backup quarterback on the roster.
