Authorities have stated that the motive behind the killing of Michelle Shepherd has to do with Alabama losing to Auburn. The murder, which took place outside an apartment in Birmingham, occurred a few minutes after Auburn defeated Alabama.
Shepherd’s sister also tells reporters that Michelle was shot to death over the result of the rival game. Adrian Laroze Briskey, 28, was charged with the murder of Michelle Shepherd, 36, on Monday.

Police say 28-year-old Adrian Laroze Briskey was charged Monday with murder in the killing of fellow Crimson Tide fan, 36-year-old Michelle Shepherd Saturday. The killing outside an apartment complex outside Birmingham came just moments after Alabama lost to archrival Auburn in a last-second thriller.
Nekesa Shepherd said she witnessed the killing. She said Briskey flew into a rage when she saw the sisters and others joking that the Crimson Tide’s loss wasn’t as bad as if the NBA’s Miami Heat had lost.
Shepherd told The Associated Press that the suspect said they weren’t really Alabama fans and started shooting.
Police say they are looking at whether the game’s outcome was the motive.
