Beckwith, age 38, was a carpenter and general contractor who was a co-host on HGTV networks show Curb Appeal for over two years. It was a half-hour home renovation program which started in 2002. The other hosts on the show were John Gidding, who is a professional architect and Kimberly Lacy, who also worked as a project manager on a spin off show called Curb Appeal: The Block.
The various episodes dealt with focusing on a certain homes which had a dated exterior. It would then send in a team of professionals to work on the house to improve its appearance.
The television host lived in the Bay Area of San Francisco, where he owned and operated his own construction company. It was called BB Design Build, and it offered both residential and also commercial construction services around the San Francisco area. It was located in the city’s Castro district. He had owned it for a number of years, starting back in 2001.
The crash was reported to have happened in San Francisco’s Haight district, declared the state medical examiner.
Beckwith was pronounced dead from his many injuries at a hospital in San Francisco after he was struck while on his motorcycle by another vehicle. The accident occurred near the intersection of Steiner and Oak streets around 8:30 p.m. authorities stated. The San Francisco police investigating unit refused to disclose any details about how the crash happened. However, they did say that the driver of the other vehicle was not hurt in the accident, and remained at the crash scene. The person was also cooperating fully with the police investigation.
The television host was born in the state of Maine and had moved to Northern California in the early 2000’s after he studied martial arts and English at the University of Montana. He had begun building things early in life. He also enjoyed helping his family on their 60-acre vegetable farm back in Maine. During summer breaks from college classes in Montana, he aided in restoring cabins of a famous fly-fishing ranch which was located in Wyoming.
There has been a Facebook page created in Beckwith’s memory. Beckwith’s many friends were remembering him on it. His girlfriend, Yulia Korneeva also was on there and had put up on the social media site that Beckwith would be sorely missed. She wrote that he was kind, bright, strong and adventurous. She also stated how he was loved by numerous people and how she wished he could stay with them for a longer amount of time.
HGTV released a statement on Tuesday through a spokesperson who said that the HGTV family was extremely saddened to hear about Beckwith’s tragic death. The television company stated it was mourning his loss along with his numerous family members and many friends who would most definitely miss his adventurous spirit, creativity and general love of life.
Bill Beckwith, the HGTV host who died from a motorcycle accident will be missed.
